Can You Really Make Money as a Free Lance Writer?

My last article was about in order to make money online; now it is time to discuss Free Lance Writing.

Free Lance Writing is a wonderful way to express yourself, especially if you are an expert in any particular area. For example, an engineer may wish to obtain free lance work in order to improve his/her reputation in the engineering field and can offer their advice or opinion in a creative way (or as an engineer would say "layman's terms"). Through articles, the engineer will garner repute, market themselves to any architect who's reading and will obviously gain respect in the construction world.

The Steps

The same rules apply for the simplest of writers: find your niche and start typing away; however, buyers beware! Finding a Free Lance job may prove more difficult that you've imagined. There are several free lance support sites available to the beginner author and many job boards as well. What you must do is promote yourself as an author!

Promote: Start a blog, write articles, join a community such as LinkedIn, where your expert opinion is likely to be read by millions at a time. Most editors do not want amateur bloggers, they want experience. So set-up those pages and start promoting yourself, not forgetting to save every article or blog so that you are also building a portfolio for your new free lance writing career.

Job Board: There are several job boards available by a simple google search and you can send in your resumes to valid companies. Be careful not to expose too much information until you are completely convinced it is a valid opportunity.

Ghost Writing: Some authors or tech writers don't have the time to complete some of their own work and will tender out research and writing. Jump on board! These jobs pay handsomely, but there is a catch. You do not receive recognition or accolades for the completed articles so if you're looking to stamp your name on something, this isn't it. The experience is what you'll gain as a writer, and prepare you for the real deal when it comes your way.

Don't give up! Many authors give in too quickly because of constant rejection. Don't worry, someone is bound to give you a chance and once they do, it's the start of a confidence building relationship.

So happy writing folks and if you are the one who believes in the Laws of Attraction, you should have no problems becoming your dream "Free Lance Writer" in the future.

Freelancing seems too easy way to get creative satisfaction and earn money. But most relaize the hard work involved after taking the plunge. Your last advice is most important - persevere despite initial rejections. Great Hub!

It's actually taken me five months to become an established writer and I can say, perseverance is the key to anything!
